Are you a new graduate?
We understand the interview process can be daunting for new job seekers such as residents, fellows or SRNAs. Lotus will assist you through the placement process step by step. We have a pool of nationally recognized clients that utilize our services to fill their staffing needs. We know when and which clients are open to new grads and will ensure we get you in front of them in a timely manner. Residents and fellows should begin seeking positions in the Fall, and interview throughout December and January. The placement process typically takes 6-9 months; therefore this timeline will allow you to start your new position around July 1st. However, the placement process for SRNAs is a little shorter, anywhere from 1-6 months. Clients who are accepting SRNAs will base your candidacy on several factors to include your GPA, personality, skill level, and letters of recommendation from your Program Director.
How do I determine where I should interview?

There are several compelling factors to consider before you apply for a position. We recommend you discuss these with your spouse or family prior to entering into the interview process, to save time and energy. Here are a few thought provoking questions that will help you narrow down what is important to you and your family:

  • Do we need to be close to other family members, like aging parents?
  • How important is compensation vs quality of life?
  • Should we base our geographical preferences on school systems, churches, or culture?
  • Will we be happy in a rural or metropolitan area?
  • Can my spouse or significant other find work as well?
Which offer should I accept?
Now that you have a few offers as a result of your interview process, it is difficult to choose which position is right for you and your family. Sometimes the interview can go so well that your judgment can be clouded. It is important to compare all of the positions and rate each opportunity on a scale of 1-3 by the following categories:

Compensation – It is very important to compare compensation to cost of living, as this varies greatly throughout the country. Is there state tax, affordable housing, public vs private schools? Does this position offer partnership or a production bonus? Is there a sign on or relocation bonus? What will I make year 1 vs year 3?

Quality of life – This may be defined as work schedule vs time off. How long is a normal work day? How often am I on call?

Benefits – Employers are now offering a wide array of benefits to remain competitive in the job market. It is important to place value on the entire package by determining which benefits are most valuable to you and your family. Geographical preferences – Area seems to be the most determining factor of most placements. Does the area provide a safe and secure setting for my family? Would we reside close enough to family? Are there organized activities or athletic programs for our children? Is the culture diverse enough for my family? How are the schools ranked on a national level? Is there a local church that would meet my religious requirements?
